Welcome to Lahori Flavour!
Welcome everyone! I wanted to make this blog so people can explore and educate themselves on Lahori/Punjabi food. I chose the theme of Lahori food because I went to Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan back in 2008 and I thought the city was absolutely beautiful. So, I decided to learn more about the food culture of Lahore since it is my favorite city that I visited in Pakistan.
Chillies Indian Restaurant Review
Today I'm reviewing an Indian restaurant named Chillies that I went to with my parents.
I ordered a Punjabi Thali (combo) with had Saag(green dish usually made from spinach), Makki di Roti (roti made from cornflour), Raita (yogurt seasoned with spices and/or herbs usually used as a condiment), Basmati Rice, Aloo Gobhi(dry dish made from potatoes and cauliflower and Indian spices), Dal Makhni (primary ingredients are whole black lentil, red kidney beans, red lentil) with salted Lassi(yogurt drink). The Saag had a strong salty flavour to it which I liked. Other dishes I liked were Basmati Rice, and Aloo Gobhi but my favourite dish was the Dal Makhni because it tasted so flavourful and salty(it is my favorite Punjabi vegetarian dish). Two things I didn't like was the Makki di Roti and Salted Lassi. The Makki di Roti seemed like it was stale to me.The Salted Lassi was something I tried for the first time. It tasted super sour and salty which I didn't like but for someone who likes Salted Lassi I would recommend it due to how sour and salty it is. My parents ordered Masala Chai (tea with spices) and Chaat Papri( dish with potatoes, chick peas, yogurt and tamarind sauce on the top) which I got to sample from them. The Masala Chai just tasted like plain tea with no spices whatsoever. The Chaat Papri tasted great and I loved the sweetness from the Tamarind sauce.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was very peaceful with instrumentals of old Indian music. The setup of the restaurant was very neat although the restaurant was quite small. The waiter who served my parents and I was very nice and was well informed about regards to the menu for example, if I asked him if he knows whats in a dish he would reply about what's in a dish without a doubt. I asked him where does the food come from. He says that alot of the seasonings and herbs come from local Indian stores such as Nasa Food Centre but didn't tell me anything else.

Some things that they need to improve on is how fast they serve the food. It took the waiter 30 minutes to serve our food. I think they should also improve on how spicy their food is because their food wasn't spicy at all.
Here is their menu if you are taking in consideration to dine there: Starters

Complimentary Basmati Rice with all the Non-Veg main course items.
